DOD FLEXIBLE DISPLAY INITIATIVE

As part of an initiative to bring the best in communications technology and capabilities to its soldiers in the field, the U.S. Department of Defense has been a key supporter of Universal Display’s FOLED® technology. Over the past several years, Universal Display has received a number of DOD contracts, primarily to support the development of product prototypes using our proprietary FOLED and PHOLED technologies. These include contracts through the Army Research Laboratories (ARL), the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the U.S. Army Communication Electronics Research and Development Engineering Center (CERDEC), the Air Force Research Laboratories (AFRL), and the Naval Research Laboratories (NRL).

Universal Display is also a founding member of the Flexible Display Center (FDC) at Arizona State University. This university-government-industry collaborative partnership was chartered to develop the capabilities needed to create flexible, low-power and light-weight displays for future military and commercial applications.

Also an active member of the United States Display Consortium since 1997, Universal Display has actively engaged in efforts to help build domestic infrastructure for the emerging OLED industry. In 2007, Universal Display became a Champion of the USDC Flexible Printed and Organic Electronics Initiative, an offshoot from the USDC.
