Forrest, and at the University of Southern California under the direction of Professor Mark E. Thompson, to perform pioneering research in the field of OLED technology. As part of our sponsored research program with these Universities, we have exclusively licensed all the Princeton University and University of Southern California patents that have resulted from this work. This agreement was extended in May 2006 to include patents arising from research conducted at the University of Michigan by Professor Forrest. This program is an excellent example of highly-productive entrepreneurial/ university collaboration. It allows Universal Display access to the cutting-edge research of these highly-gifted researchers for further development and broad-based commercialization. This sponsored research has resulted in a number of important discoveries and innovations for the OLED industry. Universal Display also maintains a strong relationship with Princeton University through a sponsored research program with the world-renowned Dr. Sigurd Wagner. Other established collaborative research activities with leading academic researchers include Dr. Jin Jang of Kyung Hee University (Korea), Dr. Ken Wong of National Taiwan University and Dr. Chiyaha Adachi at Kyushu University. |
